The ISERF Shoulder Specialists Retreat 2016 course will take place on the scenic Middle Fork of the Salmon River in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness Area in Idaho from July 30-August4, 2016. Over the course of the 6-day river trip approximately 1 1/2 hours per day will be dedicated to lectures and interactive discussion on the topic of shoulder surgery. This course provides a unique opportunity for orthopedic shoulder specialists and other healthcare professionals to interact with a world-class faculty of shoulder specialists in a beautiful and unique environment.

Course Description

This course is designed to provide the orthopaedic surgeon with an update on treatments for various shoulder disorders including conservative care, arthroplasty, arthroscopy, and fracture management. The course format is a combination of lectures and engaging panel discussions. A group of distinguished faculty will present their experience, techniques, and discuss individual cases in an intimate environment. Ample time for question and answer sessions will be provided for participants to interact with faculty.

Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Apply innovative methods of assessment and management to various shoulder disorders
  • Apply current concepts to total shoulder arthroplasty, soft tissue repair, trauma management, and instability treatments.
  • Consider the post-operative complications and outcomes following shoulder procedures
  • Identify humeral and glenoid bone loss and develop strategies to manage as they relate to shoulder arthroplasty and instability repair
  • Develop strategies for the treatment of shoulder instability
  • Assess the options for the treatment of massive rotator cuff tears

Target Audience

Orthopedic shoulder specialists and other healthcare professionals whose scope of practice includes shoulder surgery.
